BACHELORS' SAMBAR
Ingredients
vegetables--any--cut into medium pieces. tamarind paste--1 tsp salt to taste sambar powder onion-small tomatoes-1 dhal (thuvar 0r green dhal--1/2 cup oil and mustard to season turmeric powder-1/2 tsp asafoetida-pinch
Method
take a small pressure cooker.season with oil,the mustard,turmeric,asafoetida,followed by onions,tomatoes,cut vegetables,dhal,sambar powder,salt,tamarind and add enough water. cook for 5-6 whistles. open after 1/2 hour. garam smelling sambar ready.takes only 20 minutes maximum
