Mint Puli Kuzhambu
Ingredients
Mint leaves - 1 cup Tamarind - a small lemon sized ball Small onions - 1/2 cup Garlic flakes - 6-8 Chillypowder - 3tsp Coriander powder - 2 tsp Red chilly - 1 or 2 Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp White sesame seeds - a few Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp Jaggery - a small piece Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Sesame oil - as required Salt - as required
Method
1. Heat oil in a fry pan and add the fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, small onions, garlics. Fry them until it turns golden brown. 2. Now add the mint leaves and fry them until the raw smell disappears. 3. In a separate pan fry the red chilly, urad dal, sesame seeds without oil. Then powder it nicely. 4. When the mint leaves was nicely fried add the the tamarind extract, chilly powder, coriander powder, and allow them to boil.Let it becomes thick. 5. Then add the powdered mixture, jaggey, salt and few drops of sesame oil. 6. Serve it with plain rice. Note: *** Don't add too much of urad dal. You must use only the split urad dal.
