we are blessed with a boy baby yesterday..kindly help us decide a name for him. my criteria is it should mean 'sun'or related to sun and should start in 'a' that is agaram. preferably something unique. forum members pls help asap. |

Posted At 15:46:35 06/30/2005 Kavignan, congradulations. Though, I dont know about you and never had any conversations with you, I just have one suggestion as a Tamil: Give him a Tamil name. Japanese people use Japanese names. Chinese people use Chinese names. English people use English names. Muslims use muslim names. It is we, the Tamils who use Sanskrit names forgetting the slavery associated with it. It is my view and you are free to use your freedom to choose any name for your baby. Once again congradulations. |

Kavingan, if u belive in Sanskrit, and respect it as oldest language with unfathamaobale divinity in it, considering its tradition, then u can name u rson as Adithya..there is one famous slogam that is respected by all well learned hindu devouts that helps elimnate all enemies(sathru).. Aadhiya hirudhayam Punyam.. sarva sathru Vinaasanam.. Jaya Vaham Jabam Nithyam Atchayam Paramam sivam.. Better than me scholar like Param will give some more name in Sanskrit. In case u r the one abusing Sanskrit always like Rm, u can christen him as Aathavan. I doubt whther any tamil word is there beginning a as in agaram but denoting Sun. If u feel constrained because u are atheist, if u are, don't feel shy. Even MK 's first son name is Indrajith. But don't christen this name or Abimanyu like that.Both shall be avoided. And Daya'ss daughter also having sanskrit name i think varsha ..throw out the inhibitions...u need not follow our opportunistic atheists who preach sermons to others..but not practise to themselves..Oorrukku thaan vaathyaar intha kootam.Just ignore them. It is more than ridiculous to see that u are communicating with all of us in English. Is it your mother tongue? Does it not remind u the slavery ?What is wrong with u my friend? Sanskrit , i need not explain its tradition and divinity attached with that, to Justify that. I feel ashamed to say i do not know that langauage .If u do not want to learn ignore it. I understand. I prescribe www.sanskrit.org.Better browse this site.This was suggested by Patriot in this forum. I hope u are an Indian. Try to respect our language first and then talk about foreign language, called English. How many times, we can educate u, in this forum. You suggest Kannan,Indian, Ezhil etc. I have seeen this many times. You dont read the thread properly and get emotional. Then you write your favourite topics such as sanskrit is bad, Hinduism is bad etc. Can you please read the thread and questions properly and respond. Otherwise discussion becomes impossible.
