Vanakkam, A man at Hyderabad is conducting a thread ceremony (Upanayanam - poonool) for his 12 year old daughter. He has also decided to put her in veda paada saalai for another 12 years. Source : Deccan Chronicle Nanri. |

Posted At 11:03:39 05/25/2005 Good effort. Others may follow suit, if willing. Why not brides tie a Thaali (MangaLa Sutra) round the grooms' necks on the day of marriage to ascertain gender-equality? What about flowers on Men's heads & metti on their toes & kolusu on their ankles? We would soon see these crazy seerthiruthams, if only women insist on them as a pre-condition to the nuptials! Posted At 03:18:12 05/26/2005 UPANAYANAM can be conducted on any willing individual..Actually it must be done to every Hindu...During the course of time, other caste people may have gone out of this ritual..But it is essential that every Hindu should realize the importance of this ritual and enforce it..Learned individuals should direct all Hindus to make this a part of their lives (for Hindu males). It is evident that Brahmins currently lead nearly the pureset Hindu way of life and basically learn most of the scriptures a Hindu should learn and understand. There are meanings for so many rituals which is known by learning...Other caste Hindus do not take time to enforce the minimal learning process in their lives to prepare them spritually and become learned and be called a real Hindus. This lack of knowledge in Hindu scriptures erodes the affinity to the dear Hindu faith and succumb to the evil deeds of other faiths towards them. Since lack of sensibility leads to ignorance, other caste Hindus have started bearing banners of secularism without knowing it is the quicksand of destruction of their lives and future, and eventually their nation. |

Actually, he must have wanted to be a Muslim to have four wives on record! Like K.Balachander, he is also for having multiple wives one for home, one for going out ( intellectual company), one for bed & one for emergency needs.
